A Fuzzy Based Stator Inter-Turn Fault Diagnosis of Three Phase Induction Motor

This paper deals with detection and diagnosis of Stator Inter turn fault of three phase Induction motor. The proposed method is based on the stator current Clarke vector pattern. Three phase stator currents are used to construct Clarke vector pattern in order to distinguish the “healthy” and “faulty” condition of induction motor. The covered area for each pattern is calculated and the per unit change in area from normal condition is used to identify the severity of faults. The main objective of this work is to establish a system capable of detecting the stator condition of the induction motor by monitoring the stator currents only. Using this current sample data, the Fuzzy logic based analysis and fault identification is made. A MATLAB based simulation of the proposed Clarke vector pattern for an induction motor is made. This method is verified experimentally on a 0.5 HP, 415 V, 3-Ф squirrel-cage Induction motor to check the accuracy with simulation results.
